A Foothills Parkway elopement may be my most requested location for couples eloping to Gatlinburg. And for good reason! The foothills have a lot going for them, from stunning sunsets and views to easy accessibility. Not to mention, this is one of my personal favorites, too! Let me share why an elopement in the Foothills is the right choice for you!

Backdrops

While working as a Gatlinburg elopement photographer, I grew to love the Foothills with every session I had there for the variety of backdrops. Of course, we have all seen the classic shot of the valley and the Smoky Mountains from across the road. But did you know you can also have a shot of the road winding up the hills and mountains? Or that you can walk into the tree line for a more wanderlust vibe. Or, I can take you to a boulder that looks out to the valley through a grove of trees? The options seem endless! Every time I visit the Foothills Parkway, I seem to find a new backdrop.

Accessibility

Most elopement locations in the Smokies are relatively easy to reach. However, the Foothills is beyond easy to access! Most of the best backdrops are literally on the side of the road. There are multiple pull-offs to choose from too. So, no worries about hiking or venturing into the woods, making your way through hidden trails. This is a great option if you or your elopement guests need accessibility, or if you just don’t feel like getting too adventurous on your elopement day.

Scenic Drive

Although I love capturing Gatlinburg elopements, one of my favorite parts of a Foothills Parkway elopement is the peaceful drive home afterward. The Foothills has the best drive in the Smoky Mountains, so even if you decide on a different location for your ceremony, still be sure to drive through this gem and take in the views!

Location

The Foothills is just about nine miles from Gatlinburg, making this location exceptional for those eloping to Gatlinburg, as well as those planning to honeymoon in Gatlinburg after. You get all of the beauty of the Smokies with the convenience of lovely Gatlinburg. And while in Gatlinburg, you can indulge in local eateries, adventurous activities, and so much more!
