Spence Cabin Wedding

Of all the Smoky Mountain wedding venues, Spence Cabin is definitely in my top three! With lush woods, a rocky creek and dozens of unique backdrops. A Spence Cabin wedding may just be the place that your dream elopement comes to life! Here is everything you need to know about Spence Cabin.

Location

Spence Cabin is just south of Gatlinburg and located near Elkmont Campground. It is in the thick of the woods, and doesn’t have much of a mountain view, but is still a wedding venue that screams “Smoky Mountain”! In addition, we can always go to a second location for mountain views.

Directions

Here are directions I found to get to Spence Cabin.

Drive south from Gatlinburg, TN on Newfound Gap Road (U.S. 441) for 1.7 miles and turn right onto Little River Road toward Cades Cove. Proceed 5 miles to Elkmont Campground road and turn left. Go 1.4 miles and turn left just before the campground office (sign says Elkmont Nature Trail 0.3, Little River Trail 0.6 and Jakes Creek Trail). After crossing the bridge, take the second left into the parking lot. Parking for Spence Cabin will be on your right as you make the loop through the parking lot. (The nearest street address is 500 Elkmont Road, Gatlinburg, TN.)

Spence Cabin

This Smoky Mountain wedding venue is in the Elkmont Historic District and has been a preserved historic location since 1994. Between its history and charm, it is the perfect place to hold an intimate wedding or elopement. The cabin has an intimate indoor space with a gas fireplace, making for a great back up to your outdoor ceremony. Or you can opt to be married on an outdoor patio with a lush green backdrop.

Note: Bear activity is especially high during May-August. You may experience a higher likelihood of bear encounters this time of year.

Spence Cabin Wedding Amenities

One of the reasons we love this venue so much is because of the accessibility and amenities. Each room has between two and six outlets. There is a warming kitchen, so there is no cooking on the propoerty. However, there is a fridge, microwave and outlets to allow for preserving and warming food.

Furnishings are available, but limited. With 40 folding chairs, four 6-foot diameter round tables, eight 2.5-by-6 foot rectangular tables and six rocking chairs. You can set up the furniture in any configuration that will suit your elopement. You can also bring in additional items like lawn chairs, grills and so on.
