Cades Cove History

Throughout Cades Cove you will find barns, log houses, churches, a working gristmill, and many other restored eighteenth and nineteenth century structures. Creating one of a kind backdrops for wedding photos with a bit of history. Although Cades Cove is a tourist destination in today’s world, it was once used by the Cherokee Indians to hunt. After that, Europeans settled the land, resulting in the wide variety of historic buildings that you will find in the valley.

Wildlife

Cades Cove is also where you will see the most wildlife of all the Smoky Mountain elopement locations! I have seen black bears and white-tailed deer on occasion. However, you could also come across a coyote, raccoon, and groundhogs. Wildlife is most active in the early morning or late afternoon. So, if you don’t want a run in with any animals we can schedule your elopement accordingly. In addition, the wildlife is not as active in the fall, as many are preparing to hibernate.

Ceremony At Cades Cove In The Fall

One of the reasons I love planning elopement at Cades Cove is the variety of ceremony locations. You can say your vows under a tree next to a darling fence line or in the meadow among tall grass and wildflowers. I personally love the meadow ceremony in the fall, as the tree line pops with autumn colors as the leaves change. In addition, you are able to capture the depth of the Smokies with the mountains in the distance.

Intimate Smoky Mountain Elopement

Another perk of Cades Cove in the Fall is how quiet and intimate it is. Even during the busy season, this elopement location does not experience a lot of foot traffic from visitors, giving you a more private and intimate ceremony. Also, if you do get to see wildlife, they typically stay in the distant tree line, offering you a safe space to enjoy nature without being too close for comfort.

Cades Cove in the fall is a wonderful option for a Smoky Mountain elopement! You will fall in love with its beauty and privacy. Ready to plan your elopement? Reach out! I can’t wait to hear from you.
